The park is a popular location for dog-walkers and naturalists at all times, but the changing seasons do attract different activities. In the winter, after a good snowfall, the toboggan hill is especially popular among children and the young-at-heart; while views from the boardwalk during the longer days of summer present unique opportunities for professional and amateur photographers to capture the stunning sunsets across Lake Gibson.
Every year the Mel Swart Lake Gibson Conservation Park committee hosts an Earth Day tree-planting event that attracts members from the local community and youth organizations, like the 1st Thorold Scouts:
